It's been a busy (but fun) couple of days, what with all the art hopping we've been doing. We popped by the opening of Angles of Incidence, a stunning, futuristic-looking collab between local architect Randy Chan and UK artist Philippa Lawrence. Be sure to go to Botanic Gardens' Bandstand by March 23 to catch it in full splendor.

We checked out some of the first exhibitions to open for Singapore Art Week (January 13-19) at two Gillman Barracks galleries, ARNDT and Sundaram Tagore Gallery. At the former is German sculptor Stephan Balkenhol's first solo show in Singapore. Although he is already a veteran in the European arts scene, his work has never before been showcased on its own in Southeast Asia. So it was clearly pretty exciting. The works, mainly statuettes of ordinary people, were superb.

For V-day this year, Ikeda Spa is embracing the whole chocolate-and-flowers cliché with a two-hour pampering package. It starts with one of toughest, most thorough scrubdowns we've experienced, which was a bit of a shock if you were expecting some slow seduction. Then, it's off to a (very) hot red rose bath in a lovely wooden tub.
