The deal: If you're the adventurous sort, this three-course set lunch will give you a midday surprise. Every day, the menu changes according to the chef's pick on the freshest ingredients from organic farms in Cameron Highlands. It doesn't deviate too far from their main lunch menu so expect dishes like duck leg confit with fennel, kohl rabi, apple remoulade and roasted beets; steak frites; mussels mariniere; and pear and blue cheese salad. 

The deal: This fine dining Italian restaurant located in a historic black-and-white off Orchard Road finally caves in to the lunchtime crowd. At $38 for three courses, there's a surprising amount of choice: four starters, five mains and three desserts. Dishes include cured salmon carpaccio with orange and capers, pan-seared duck liver with poached pear, papperdelle pasta with braised Wagyu beef cheek and charcoal-grilled lamb rack with zucchini and mint oil. Everything's prettily-plated and decadent with perfectly-cooked meats and well-seasoned pastas.

The deal: This French-inspired CBD eatery and coffee roasters offers casual fine dining reinterpretations of popular dishes like frog's legs and seafood cassoulets. Everything's cooked using fine dining techniques, so expect components like veal jus and airy mashed potatoes on plates. The two-course affair includes a soup of the day and a choice of two mains like a spicy prawn and crabmeat pasta in a seafood broth with sun-dried tomato and arugula or pan-fried chicken leg in wild mushroom veal jus with steamed carrots and broccoli. 

The deal: The modern Indian resto-lounge has a three-course set lunch menu for $15 with both Indian and Western dishes. There's a choice of five startes like soup of the day and masala aloo tiikki, a crispy potato cake filled with green peas masala. Mains include fish moilee, Pollock fish fillet stewed with coconut and curry leaves; and the addictive paneer jalfrezi. Each comes with yellow lentils, basmati rice and plain naan. Desserts include badam kheer, a rice pudding with fresh milk and almonds; and walnut brownies.

The deal: If you love Kilo's bohemian spirit but don't feel like making the trek to Kallang, the multi-concept PACT outlet has more of their Asian fusion, Mediterranean-tinged nosh in the heart of town. $20 gets you a salad, sushiro or bowl, a drink and a choice of two desserts.

The deal: The famed tapas joint rolls out a set lunch menu with two- and three-course options (at $35 and $45 respectively), pretty decent considering the prices for dinner. There are four options per course so there are quite a few dishes to pick from. For starters, the crispy baby squid with chili coriander and black ink aioli has all the crunchy goodness you'd expect with just the right amount of heat. While the mains are quite fish-centric, the sea bass with chorizo red pepper paella and black olives has a bowl of hearty rice that you can't stop eating.

Veering away from their three-course lunch set menu, this side dish and mains-focused menu features dishes like fried clam submarine sandwich ($18), Pelican fish & chips ($26), New England lobster roll ($35) and NY strip steak with herb butter ($42).

The deal: Wanderlust Hotel’s casual French restaurant offers a weekday three-course set lunch (available 12 to 2:30pm); at $32 per person, you get three courses. The appetizer of poached egg and lardon salad is nicely cut with a sherry vinaigrette, but if you’re in the mood for something fancy, go for the garlicky escargot baked in cheese pastry with tomato coulis.

The deal: As if being open till the wee hours wasn’t enough, the workaholics at Fordham & Grand have decided to start serving lunch (Tue-Fri, 11:30am-2pm). The format is pretty standard; pick a starter, a main and a dessert for $35. Lots of veggie and pescie options here—the asparagus and linguini are particularly delish—but meat eaters can and should go for steak and fries. For dessert, we had a dreamy kulfi-like pistachio creamsicle covered in white chocolate, chopped apricot and edible blossoms—like a grown-up Magnum.

The deal: Available Monday through Thursday, you can opt for either the two-course ($25) or three-course set lunch ($33). We really liked both our starter of French duck salad—which comes with generous servings of pan seared foie gras and duck breast chunks—and the crispy pork belly. The panna cotta dessert, however, was somewhat underwhelming. Choose the homemade ice cream instead and you’ll be in for a treat; chef Jean-Charles Dubois concocts different flavors all the time.
