After wowing crowds during their last visit here in 2015, Irish rockers The Script are back for another date on these shores.

The Freedom Child tour takes place in conjunction with the release of their fifth studio album—and the trio, who is known for their electric live acts, will perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Apr 12. We’ll show you how to make the most of an unforgettable evening.

Bites and booze

The Singapore Indoor Stadium and nearby Kallang Wave have plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. If you have some time to spare, start the evening early at Kallang Wave for a bite; take your pick of Indian (My Briyani House), Thai (Thai Village Restaurant) and Western fare (Astons Specialities).

Once done, head to local brewer Brewerkz at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for a great selection of craft beers. Here, you’ll be able to while the evening away by the scenic Kallang River before heading off to see The Script.

Playlist picks

Don’t be turning up not knowing the songs. That’s just bad form. But seeing how many radio-friendly hits The Script they have had, this shouldn’t be too hard a task. Here’s a quick primer of their best-known numbers, which can be found on YouTube and on Spotify:

“The Man Who Can't Be Moved” is clearly their biggest blockbuster hit—going platinum in the US, with more than 165 million views on YouTube to date; “Hall of Fame” from 2012 features will.i.am was another rocking platinum hit. If you are up for a melancholic ballad, then keep your lighter handy for “Breakeven”; while “For the First Time” is a catchy sing-along tune that will evoke fond memories of romances past.
They’ll also be playing hits from their latest album, including “Rain”, “Open Arms” and the title track “Freedom Child”, so make sure you know those too.

Getting Irish

The Script are very proud of their Irish roots—and Singapore has no shortage of watering holes with the Emerald Isle theme.

Head to Muddy Murphy’s for live music and even livelier quiz nights. This ain’t just a bar, folks: It’s an institution. If you feel like you need more live music after The Script, this place stays open till 1am.

Nearby, The Drunken Poet offers an equally memorable experience and—with its plentiful flat-screens—is perfect for watching sports. Oh, the grub’s pretty good, too.

For something in the CBD and nearer the venue, head to Molly Malone’s on Circular Road behind Boat Quay for hearty pints of Guinness and one of the best fish & chips servings you’ll ever find in Singapore.
