February the 29th only comes along once every four years, so there’s every reason to make the extra day count. That’ll be easy in 2020—all you have to do is head to Fort Canning where Garden Beats will be taking place. Here’s what you can expect at this festival of music, arts and conscious living.
 

Music

Headlining proceedings at this edition are British indie rockers FOALS with a massive 80min set, and who recently released their sixth studio album, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2. Also leading the line-up are Thailand's electro-R&B star Pyra, eclectic electronic maestro Viken Arman from Paris and the funky, futuristic New York-based act The Illustrious Blacks.
 

Arts

Visual art and the performing arts play a key role at Garden Beats 2020, with a programme curated by Anne-Laure Herrezuelo, an influential artist, creative coach and facilitator. A community of artists and art collectives will be collaborating to present Art Lane, a thoroughfare of large-scale, interactive installations. One of the highlights is a mesmerising structure made from rattan by Pier Alessio Rizzardi, founder of TCA Think Tank. In the evening, theatre and dance will take centre stage, as the Pavilion hosts performances created just for the festival. Stars here include Daniel Sonic Rojas and Dance to Bliss.
 

Conscious living

Garden Beats became Singapore’s first certified carbon-neutral festival in 2018, and its commitment to the environment will shine through again in 2020. Festivalgoers will learn more about green initiatives (like Garden Beats’ single-use plastic ban) and attend conscious workshops and talks at the Pavilion during the day while also boosting their well-being at the Zen Garden, presented by Lululemon. Among the speakers are Stephanie Dickson (founder of conscious-living platform Green Is The New Black), singer-songwriter Inch Chua, Raena Lim (founder of fashion rental subscription business Style Theory) and Bjorn Low (founder and managing director of Edible Garden City). Vegan food will be available too! Just head to the Food Village, presented by Foodpanda.

Lazy Bird tickets are available for $148 until Jan 31. Tickets for groups of five or more are also available at $138 per person until Jan 31. VIP tickets can be purchased for $208 until Feb 27.
