Two island parties in March to get excited about
Don't forget the sunblock.
Don't forget the sunblock.
The third edition of Sunshine Nation island Takeover is back and is happening from Mar 6-8. They've chartered their own party bus to ferry people from Singapore to Malaysia's Sibu Island for a weekend of non-stop partying with the UK's DJ Mr Max. There are only 70 tickets so this is pretty exclusive as far as island parties go, and the organizers have promised a 50-50 male-female ratio (read: not a sausage fest). Tickets start from $390 and include accommodation (at Rimba Resort), meals and two-way transport.
Next up is this reggae island party organized by the Singapura Dub Club (who seem to be gaining quite a following in the local reggae music scene) that will be taking place in Bintan from Mar 27-29. They've roped in a pretty interesting line-up of international acts, including Zionway from Indonesia, Travis von Cartier from America, DJ Sarasa from Japan and our very own Masia One & Irietones. There are also workshops in African drumming, songwriting, live painting and dancehall dance.
Here’s the catch: this event is only open to members of Singapura Dub Club and you’ll need a password to gain access to the ticket sales. Prices start at $180 and include two nights stay at the Bintan Cabana Resort. Thankfully, you can buy your way into the club—it’ll cost you $50 for a one-year membership and will give you access and discounts to future events. Head here to get your membership (available from March).
