The nondescript Capital Tower actually has a few nice shops and restaurants, of which this is one. Tartine’s is a small French bistro with North African influences, so expect to see croque monsieur and provencale salad next to tabouleh, and hear the owner’s French accent and North African music in the background. They have a great range of sandwiches with classic and interesting fillings like sour cream and mustard beef, salads, soups, yoghurts and hot open face sandwiches too. What makes the food here so yummy is that the restaurant uses good ingredients and authentic recipes—so you get it like you would in Paris. Our Mediterranean vegetable soup ($7.50, large) was clearly homemade, while the tabouleh ($3) was fresh and delicious, as was the potato salad ($3) with mustard mayo. The apple compote yoghurt ($3) that ended our meal was also super—real apple and real yoghurt. We could come here for lunch every day.
