The Sultan Hotel

Set within two rows of shophouses between Jalan Sultan and Aliwal Street in Kampong Glam, the family-owned Sultan Hotel is the newest boutique hotel on the scene. The embellishments here reflect the heritage of its surrounds with Persian carpets and ornate furniture, and the facilities include an enticing Moroccan restaurant and bar Pasha.

Forest N Trees

Stationery specialist with a very whimsical vibe befitting its name. A myriad of art pieces, postcards and notebooks from Nooka and Kozumikku can be had, as well as manicure and pedicure services ($39 upwards) after all that walking around.

J Shoes

Durable staple footwear from the UK, featuring an assortment of boots ($189 upwards), flats ($139 upwards) and flip-flops ($129 upwards)

Heart

Sourced mainly from Hong Kong, the collections here are perfect for the party set, featuring trendy and colorful pieces for both men and women. Highlights include a studded black dress for $69 and T-shirts with woven pocket details for $42.

Beluga

Dressmakers Inc

The ladies will have a field day here. Handpicked dresses from Italy, Japan and Paris from labels like Catherine Malandrino ($60 upwards) assure fresh finds each time. Plus they’re all one-offs.

Leftfoot

If you’re into limited editions and collector’s items, head here. The coveted RRL collection spanning patchworks jeans, shirts and berms are available ($149 upwards), as are hard-to-find Nikes, Adidas and George Cox footwear, plus some one-off vintage Carolina Herrera sunglasses ($329 upwards).

Very

A two-month-old boutique which specializes in trendy basics. The color scheme for the first collection is pastel, most notably maroon and khaki. V-necks and T-shirts ($18), cargo berms ($45) and boat shoes ($55) make great staples for the weekend.

Dresscode

This 3-year-old boutique was one of the first to bring in selected H&M designer pieces. Today, it’s still one of the most interesting indie places that bring in past season collections from Marc Jacobs, Comme des Garcons, Balenciaga and Hugo Boss. It’s also currently having a sale with most brands at half price.
