Most dating apps face one common drawback: an emphasis on superficial factors. And that’s likely due to the features which only spotlight physical appearances. But longtime dating site and app OkCupid is now introducing new features, specifically for Singaporeans, to help us match on things that truly matter.
Part of their new Love, Your Way campaign, the U.S.-based company has officially gone local by launching 15 new questions for users to answer. For instance, Singaporeans can indicate their stance on important subjects such as housing situations and family planning. Lighthearted questions are also in the mix, and they include choosing between popular local eats and date ideas.
Besides being great conversation-starters, these questions offer insights to the character and personalities of various individuals. Furthermore, they empower daters to make decisions based on meaningful connections and similarities.
“We anticipated that more people would turn to dating apps at a time when they are encouraged to stay in and practice social distancing. Adding questions that resonate with locals will hopefully encourage them to continue seeking meaningful connections on common grounds.” says Melissa Hobley, Global Chief Marketing Officer at OkCupid.
But that’s not all. OkCupid has also launched its Vaccination Badge, which enables singles to identify themselves as vaccinated individuals, providing other daters with added assurance, should they wish to meet.
We can only hope that other dating apps are gearing up to do the same.
