The opening day hype was brought back into Jewel once again last week (Jul 18) when American footwear brand Skechers unveiled its towering duplex store; snagging the crown for the largest brand experience outlet in Southeast Asia. Over 2,500 shoppers gathered to commemorate the launch of the store, where a fashion and dance showcase featuring Skechers ambassadors from C-pop boy band Next took place.
The interior of the massive 5,000 sq ft store took notes from its franchise outlets, sporting neon signages and walls adorned with displays of sneakers—but cranked up to make you feel as if you’ve landed in a shoe boutique of the future. A broad range of products can be browsed across both levels, including new collections exclusive to Jewel.
Limited edition and never-before-seen on the shelves of Singapore, the chunky and striking Energy, Stamina and Monster series, as well as specific Skechers D’Lites models, are now available for purchase at the Changi outlet if you’re looking for unique kicks. The One Piece line inspired by the long-running Japanese manga will also be making its return to Singapore in August.
Perhaps the most anticipated element of the boutique is the customisation zone on the second floor, where customers may choose to embellish their pair of Skechers shoes or apparel with embroideries or heat-pressed designs and initials. The personalisation feature is available for selected models but will make for a quirky piece like no other.
Instead of the usual commemorative Jewel shot of the Rain Vortex, you can pose for a #OOTD pic at various photo op backgrounds, including a colourful wall mural by the stairwell designed by local artists Diplomat, and a dedicated photo spot with cardboard cutouts of the C-pop idols/Skechers ambassadors.
