The name of the place says it all: Ann Siang Road haunt Tipple and Dram is essentially part wine bar, part whiskey lounge, fused into a single conservation shophouse venue that has taken over the unit formerly occupied by Le Carillon De L’Angelus following a half a million dollar makeover.
On the street level is the quaint and casual Tipple, serving up wines, Champagnes and a selection of cocktails and beers. On Fridays and Saturdays, spillover tables occupy the street outside, perfect for those seeking a partier vibe. There are bites and bar snacks available too, for if you’ve got the munchies.
Down on the basement level is Dram, a dimmer, more sophisticated set-up decked with leather armchairs and a whiskey bar counter. Customized pairings is what they’re known for, and they’ve done whiskey tastings with accompaniments like cheese, charcuterie and chocolates, as well as with less common items like oysters (yup, paired with whiskey) and bak kwa.
As for the bottlings at Dram, they total to just slightly over 100 to choose from. It may not be the most comprehensive in town, but they’re the only ones in Singapore to exclusively offer a collection solely available from distilleries—great if you’re more into a curated selection of rare whiskies rather than breadth.
