Occupying a corner space of buzzy Ann Siang Road is heritage hotel Ann Siang House, which took on its new name and persona as of Mar 1, 2018. Formerly The Club, also a boutique hotel, new owners 8M Real Estate have largely kept the space as it was, but improved upon its offerings with exciting F&B concepts, designer furnishings and a new coat of paint.
Inside are 20 rooms—seperated into Deluxe, Executive and Suite categories—with modern facilities and luxe in-room amenities, including yoga mats, dumbbells and even an exercise bike. Though offering contemporary practicalities, the rooms still distinctively convey a sense of local flair, especially with its choice of furnishings and art pieces. Plenty of in-room space also helps in conveying a sense of calm upon checking in.
The new restaurants and bars are fantastic. None of the former concepts remain, and for the better, we say. There’s popular Blue Label Pizza & Wine that occupies a prime underground spot accessibe from a back alley on main street; our current favorite, the pretty Pandora’s Garden in the courtyard that is Singapore’s first rose wine bar; uber cool White Label Records for browsing LPs and having a cocktail while a DJ spins from a green screen deck; and tea-focused cocktail bar The Other Roof (by the guys from The Other Room), taking over the rooftop space formerly occupied by Tiger’s Milk.
There’s plenty in the vicinity to do as well. A stone’s throw away are the vibrant Keong Saik, Amoy and Duxton areas where some of the best restaurants and bars in Singapore call home. And not forgetting, hawkers at Maxwell and Amoy Street Food Centre are also just a short jaunt away, making Ann Siang House’s location one of its best assets.
