Out of place in Duxton Hill is a bar that feels like home. Family-run hole-in-the-wall The Brightside occupies a shophouse within the Duxton Hill enclave, in a cozy, grass-carpeted space. With cheery decor and an unbeatable Happy Hour, it’s the perfect place for two-in-one dinner-and-drinks after work.
Heading the culinary team is Soh Wei Da from Phat Cat Laundry, who introduces tasty bar bites like handmade Thai fishcakes ($8-$15), spam fries ($7-$12), Sticky Chicken Wings ($8-$15) and Asian tacos in four flavors ($8 for one, $18 for three). The mains too are affordably priced, with the house burger and fries going for $15, ribeye steak at $30 and beef pho at $20.
For Happy Hour (before 8pm), draft beers, house pours and wines, prosecco and Pimms Lemonade cocktails go for just $8. After 8pm, prices go up to $12; but the extensive list of cocktails is only $15 nett, all-day. General Manager Rahmat Choo heads up the cocktail list with bold flavors like the restaurant’s bestseller Porn Star Martini—vanilla vodka, lime juice, fresh passionfruit, and a shot of prosecco. What a steal.
