In contrast to the exclusive resort hub of Naka Island, Naga Noi Beach Camp (+66 (0) 81-445-5244) is a quaint, family-run, 5-tent beach camp situated on the private Naka Noi Island nearby.
Only a 10-minute boat ride from Ao Por Pier in Phuket, the island is partly visited by tourists during the day for water sports like scuba-diving, parasailing and jet skis, but guests of the beach camp get their own beachfront to themselves, with snorkeling equipment and kayaks available for use free of charge. After 4pm, you pretty much get the entire island to yourself, too, just in time to enjoy a private view of the sunset.
Each tent comes with a cute table and Thai-style pillows, an electric fan, a lamp and plenty of plug points as they provide solar cell power for use 24 hours a day.
Food options are limited, but breakfast is included in the package ($100/night, inclusive of speedboat transfer from Phuket). Lunch and dinner can also be pre-ordered and served right at the campsite, while fresh seafood and a barbecue grill can also be arranged upon request.
Note that there is no Wi-Fi, and bathrooms and showers are shared. Bigger groups also have the option to rent out the main house, which comes with four bedrooms and private bathrooms—the view of the sunrise from this side of the island is also impressive.
The campsite has only been operational since Feb this year, and the owners tells us they are planning to run fishing trips and excursions to islands nearby like Koh Kai (known for serious snorkeling) and Koh Pae (known for the incredible privacy and beautiful sand banks) in the near future.
