While your friends continue to inundate social media feeds with photos of their trips to Japan this sakura season, you can do the next best thing right here in Singapore. Japan Food Town, the 628-seater food enclave on the fourth level of Wisma Atria is organizing a Sakura Fair from Mar 31 – Apr 16, where 16 of its tenants will be dishing out their own sakura-inspired dishes. They even flew in three pots of real sakura blossoms to add a dash of authenticity to the whole experience.
Highlights include the sakura ebi okonomiyaki, which uses a mix of dried and fresh ebi ($18); mentaiko sakura ebi fried rice ($10); sakura ebi kakiage ($18); and the deep fried sakura flounder ($28). The sakura treatment extends to the drinks as well, with Bar Nippon serving up a sakura highball and sakura frozen beer (both $12). We’re really eager to try those out.
Dessert lovers, head over to Rang Mang Shokudo for their sakura parfait made with sakura-flavored ice cream, red bean, mochi and cornflakes ($12). Shabu Shabu Gyu Jin and Tsukji Sushi Takewaka are also serving their own renditions of sakura ice cream ($7.90 and $8 respectively).
