Singapore-themed culinary event Singapore Food Festival 2016 returns for the 23rd time with the theme “Savour the Past, Taste the Future”, which celebrates how local cuisine have evolved.
Happening from Jul 15-31 at various venues around Singapore, this year’s lineup include chef collaborations, masterclasses, food trails and cocktail pairings, on top of a massive food village showcasing traditional and progressive takes on local street food. Kicking off the festivities is a series of food tours by CRAVE! (Jul 1-31), with guided trails taking participants through Little India, the Peranakan Museum, Kampong Glam, rooftop farms and hawker centers. And if you consider yourself a foodie, Streat (Jul 15-16, 5-10:30pm) features collaborations between restaurant chefs and hawkers, and they are coming together for a pop-up restaurant at Clifford Square. Over at Tippling Club, chef Ryan Clift is shaking up a hawker food-inspired five-course cocktail pairing menu (Jul 18-23, 12-3pm; 6pm till late), with fine dining dishes influenced by famous hawker stalls here.
Of course, the event’s big highlight is the Singapore Favourite Food Village, which has three zones comprising a heritage food street, a contemporary Mod-Sin cuisine section and a food truck park.
