It’s a particularly exciting time for street parties in Singapore, with no less than four big ones happening over the next few weeks. So whether you like to loiter on the sidewalk holding a beer bottle or do a full-on samba under the stars, here are a few to bookmark.
Haji Lane Street Party (Feb 13)
Located near Piedra Negra, this recurring street party will be playing ’90s R&B, funk, reggae and hip-hop. Among the alcoholic beverages are Coronas, tequilas and margaritas. They’re also giving a free shot to the first people who come early. Free entry.
Gingapura (Feb 20)
It’s a far cry from Rio’s Carnival, but this Bali Lane street party certainly draws a lot of inspiration from it. Expect lots of Brazilians, samba and marchinhas in the streets, caipirinhas and more. If you like dressing up, get blinged with masks and costumes. All this is happening at The Muzium Cafe along 9 Bali Lane. Free.
Lion City Burn – Dawn of the Fire Monkey (Feb 20)
Inspired by Nevada’s Burning Man, this all night party will involve fire and circus performances, 3D projections, installations and an outdoor cinema. Get your tickets here and show up at Tree Lizard, (Blk 25 B1-01 Dempsey Road) on that day itself. $20.
Garden Beats (Mar 19)
Lots of EDM musicians, DJs and the like will be making their way to Fort Canning Park for this fest. The line-up includes French DJ duo Faul & Wad and the breathy vocals of Jan Blomqvist. There’s also Lovra, who is known for her ’80s and ’90s inspired house tunes. DJs include Ce La Vi’s Brendon P, Zig Zach, Haan and KFC. Get your tickets here. $65-105.
