If you’re heading down to Perth for the New Year, or for Chinese New Year, check out a chic new opening there. COMO The Treasury is now open along Cathedral Avenue in the Central Business District. The hotel was designed by the Singapore firm, Kerry Hill, which also designed the Ogilvie House in Queensland and the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia.
The building itself is from the 19th-century and has been restored with dormer windows and rooftop copper trimmings. The 48 rooms come with white interiors, fancy beds and European furniture. The bathrooms have heated floors (not that you’ll need them in Australia’s year-end summer), free standing bathrubs and toiletries from COMO Shambhala, as well as requisite Wi-Fi.
On the food front, there’s Wildflower restaurant on the hotel rooftop, which overlooks the Swan River, and Post, which serves Australian dishes with a French Twist. The Treasury Lounge and Bar serves afternoon tea every weekend.
Other facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, COMO Shambhala Urban Escape spa that also has a wellness center for Pilates and yoga.
