Now you don’t have to trek all the way to Kranji to get your hands on local produce and locally-made artisanal products because Dempsey is finally having its own farmers’ market.
Farm-to-table restaurant Open Farm Community hosts its first Open Farmers’ Market on its expansive grounds this weekend (Aug 29-30). It’s the first edition of the regular monthly event that will be held every last Saturday and Sunday of the month. Expect tons of local food and craft makers like Momo Co, known for their jackfruit and coconut kaya; Casse Croute, specializing in hams and sausages; Mad Tapper, a cider-centric company and more.
If you’re more into supporting urban farming and buying local produce, the guys from Nong by Edible Gardens will be selling their planting kits and produce, while Oh Chin Huat will have hydroponic veggies and herbs. You can also stock up on mussels and sea bass from Ah Hua Kelong and even bouquets of flowers from With Every Flowers.
For those who are just coming for the delicious OFC food, they’ve set up a picnic area where you can grab a picnic basket set for $58, which is stuffed with salads, pastas and other goodies from the OFC menu. They’ll even recommend bottles of wine to go with your meal.
