5 new lunch spots in the CBD

Break out of your lunch rut and take a stroll around the CBD. You may be surprised to find cool new restaurants popping up in a building near you.

Arterial

Chef Shen Tan now consults for this cafe and retail shop. They’ve got a quaint menu of comfort food in sharing portions that includes crispy roasted miso pork belly, chicken liver pate and hunter’s beef stew. Plus they carry a range of sandwiches for a quick fix in case you’re in a hurry for that next appointment.

Marco Marco

This Italian-inspired eatery may not be their first outlet in town, but it’s certainly worth the leisurely lunch. Taking over The Vault’s space on Circular Road, they serve regionally-inspired paninis, pastas and pizzas with geographic names like The Jaipur, a linguine pasta made with tandoori chicken, eggplant, capsicum, red onion, tomatoes and masala sauce. Everything’s available to-go as well just in case you need another desk lunch.

Mr. Berlin

The famous Berlin street food staple makes its way to Singapore with a stand dedicated to all things wurst. Make a beeline for the currywurst, but just in case you’re not in the mood for some spicy zing, there are also other options like bratwurst, cheese sausage and frankfurters.

Pantler

If you’re in need of a sweet fix, head to this bakery for their range of pastries, madeleines, tarts and cakes. They’ve got an array of treats like pate de fruits, chocolate croissants, fruit pound cakes and ricotta cheese tarts that will make any one with a sweet tooth swoon. Plus, the space is cool, minimalist and a quiet respite from the maddening CBD crowd.

Two Men Bagel House

We can finally rejoice for a place that serves up legit deli bagels. Whether you’re here for an early breakfast fix or a quick lunch on-the-go, they’ve got tons of options to choose from like Piglet, a hashbrown, streaky bacon and sunny side up bagel, or the classic Lox with cured salmon, cream cheese, red onions, dills and capers.
