Tapas takeover: new tapas bars for bite-sized munchies

26 Tapas Bar

East-meets-West at this Spanish-influenced tapas and shooters joint. With 15 types of tapas, they feature dishes like crispy pork belly salsa, seared scallops with caviar sauce and steak cubes, which are big enough to share among three people. Drinks-wise, think crazy flavored shooters like Paddle Pop and gummy bears, as well as banana bread craft beers from Wells & Young’s Brewing Company.

A.T.O.S Asian Tapas

The newest addition in the Royal Plaza on Scotts dining scene is full of poppable mouthfuls of Asian flavors. Local favorites are reimagined into bite-sized portions like fried oysters with omelette floss, stuffed barbecue squid and chili crab mantou sliders. There are also refreshingly tropical cocktails that play on some of our favorite desserts, namely the Choco-nut Chendol.

FOC

This yet-to-open tapas bar will surely be a hot ticket for tapas lovers. Michelin-starred chef Nandu Jubany of Barcelona’s Can Jubany opens an authentic Spanish restaurant adding to the number of hip places sprouting up on Hongkong Street. This will no doubt be accompanied by killer cocktails whisked together by Catalunya’s former bar manager Dario Nocentini. Slated to open mid-August, we seriously can’t wait to see what’s in store.

My Little Tapas Bar

We’ve given this Bukit Timah offshoot a little bit of love recently, and for good reason. Although the Club Street outlet veers closer to party central, there are still legit dishes of Spanish flatbreads, jamon and cheese platters, as well as larger plates like steak and red wine-braised short ribs. Not forgetting the party atmosphere, there are plenty of wines, ciders, sangrias and other boozy libations to get the night going.
