First, there was Couchsurfing, the renowned hospitality exchange and social networking website. Now, there’s Nightswapping, a new platform that also enables you to stay for free at peers’ accommodations all around the world (provided you open your house to others, of course).
Unlike Couchsurfing, Nightswapping, launched in October 2013, is based on a unique concept of peer-to-peer nights exchange. Simply accumulate credits (or “nights”) by hosting guests at your abode, then use these credits to stay at another host’s place when you’re traveling. To date, there are over 6,000 accommodations across 54 countries worldwide connected through the Nightswapping portal.
Imagine the money you’ll get to save (supposedly up to 66%!) on your holiday budget with these colloborative accommodation platforms—however, there have been Couchsurfing-related horror stories in the past, so always be sure you do your necessary homework.
