The new Anantara Emei Resort & Spa in Sichuan, China, looks pretty darn impressive. It’s located at the foot of the stunning Emei Mountain (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and overlooks the Exiu Lake, plus it’s surrounded by picturesque waterfalls, streams and springs.
If that isn’t compelling enough, the ultra-luxe resort also offers 90 guest rooms, 40 pavilions and 20 villas decked in Oriental splendor (think warm lighting and red accents). Facilities include a fitness center, tropical outdoor pool and Jacuzzi and outdoor tennis courts—great for fitness buffs. The Anantara Spa is noteworthy as well, specializing in Eastern treatments like a Hydrating Pu-Erh Tea Body Scrub and a Ling Zhi Bath. Food-wise, there’s an all-day dining restaurant, Cultivar, that serves up Chinese and European cuisines. Alternatively, you can opt for the resort’s Dining-by-Design, which offers personalized dining experiences like a candle-lit dinner by the pool.
And if you think that being tucked away at the foot of a mountain is going to be boring, think again. There’s plenty to see and do at the resort—you can go for a walk along Exiu Lake, or take a cable car up to the summit of the mountain. You can also visit China’s iconic giant pandas in the Chengdu Plain, just a 1.5 hour’s drive away.
SilkAir flies five times a week to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, and the resort’s just a 90-minute drive away from the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. Room rates start from as low as just S$185 a night (as part of the hotel’s opening promo), inclusive of daily breakfast. Valid for stays before May 31; visit the resort’s official website for more info.
