Raw food isn’t as boring as some make it out to be. Just visit new vegan eatery Afterglow on Keong Saik Road to try their creations, and you’ll see why.
Even if you’re not buying into the whole “eating clean” and “organic food FTW” business, with menu items like Morrocan beetroot crackers with sunflower and sesame seeds (from $8), dragonfruit, pomegranate and avocado salad bowl ($16), a deconstructed sushi bowl with avocado and miso dressing ($16) and even sweet treats like raw tiramisu with cashew cream ($10), it really is hard to not be curious about the various flavor combinations.
Seeing the ingredients that go into just one single dish does make you wonder about the amount effort it takes though; the folks at Afterglow make everything from scratch, including their very own nut cheese (cheese made from macadamia nuts, walnuts, cashews and so on).
And that’s not all. Later this year, a cocktail bar will be launched, featuring concoctions crafted from cold pressed juices, herbs, flowers and nuts. All we can say is: we’re pretty excited. You should be too.
