Hatter Street and The Bakery Chef are brand new bakery-cafés in two different heartland areas of Singapore—Kovan and Hougang—serving up seriously good treats to satisfy any sweet tooth.
For Alice in Wonderland-inspired Hatter Street, chef-owner Yvette Chua (who sharpened her culinary skills at three-Michelin-starred restaurant Bo Innovation in Hong Kong) puts out creations like kumquat cake-tart ($6), popcorn mousse cake ($6), matcha latte cake ($6) and adorable “burgerons”, a fun twist on macarons ($2 per piece). Aside from these items, you can expect something new almost every day, as Chua makes it a point to constantly experiment in the kitchen.
As for The Bakery Chef in the sleepy ‘hood of Bukit Merah, it may seem like an ordinary ol’ bakery from the outside, but give this little outlet a chance and try their cakes like red velvet cheesecake ($5.80), chocolate Guanaja ($5.80) and Salted Caramel Surprise ($5.80)—you’re sure to be impressed.
