Hot on the heels of the KAI Hakone, which opened in January, hospitality group Hoshino Resorts has just introduced KAI Alps at the foot of the Japanese Alps (Nihon Arupuru), with rates starting from ¥9,500 (S$123) per person with breakfast, and from ¥13,500 (S$175) per person with breakfast and dinner.
The Japanese Alps is a series of mountain ranges covering seven cities in three prefectures, famous for its skiing in winter and trekking in summer. The resort sits near Lake Kizaki in Omachi, Nagano prefecture, offering easy access to nearby hot springs and public baths. There are two types of suites, both complete with tatami mats and Japanese traditional furnishings.
