We weren’t sure if it was the curiosity to learn about beer or the irresistible bit about having a pint or two (free and freshly brewed hops) that had eager readers turn up for the I-S Xperience: Tiger Brewery Tour. Either way, participants had their fill of both, thanks to Asia Pacific Breweries.
In the brief but informative 90-minute tour, our chirpy tour guide first took us through Tiger’s history, the drink’s ingredients, how it’s made in the brew house (which smells like stale beer) and its packaging process in the newly-introduced Packaging Gallery. There, a brewmaster demonstrated how to pull a perfect pint: Rinse the glass, fill it at an angle, gradually straightening the glass and create foam just as the beer reaches the brim. A few virgin attempts at pint-pulling later, it was off to the Tiger Tavern for the best part—beer sampling.
Clad in dark wood and leather, the swish-but-unpretentious watering den has a chill-out vibe that’s great for winding down after work—just unfortunate that it doesn’t operate like your usual bar and it’s little out of the way. But if you’re up for something different to do on the weekends or after hours, the guided tour, which includes a 45-minute tour and a 45-minute beer appreciation session, is priced at $16 per person. The Tiger Tavern is also open for booking of private, free-flow events. Visit its website for more information.
