The buzz: Boutique featuring self-taught fashion designer Frederic Sai’s debut menswear collection on the up-and-coming fashion floor of Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. The vibe: Minimalist chic; the designer takes the fashion runway out of the key fashion capitals and plonks it in the middle of his all-white boutique. Then he cheekily places a mirror in the front of the boutique, encouraging you to walk down the runway like the superstar you are.The goods: Sai felt boxed in before he moved into fashion full-time. “My first collection is a reflection of me coming out of that frame of mind—to do something that I’ve always wanted,“ he explains. The result? A cool collection of luxe men’s streetwear including footwear and accessories. Choose from the signature range of long-sleeve shirts with appliquéd black frames ($110-135); and polo T-shirts ($80) sporting rib knit cuffs and hem band in pinpoint or gingham. There is also a selection of denim pants ($130-145) as well as shorts ($80) that reveal a gingham pattern when hemmed. According to Sai, more designs will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Why you’ll be back: There are never enough boutiques for men, and this luxurious yet accessible menswear store is a welcome addition to our fashion scene.
