Don’t let the name throw you off. The latest offering to the local coffee scene, Chye Seng Huat Hardware (CSHH) produced by the Papa Palheta crew, threw open its doors just a week ago.
Housed in an Art Deco shophouse, they’ve made it a real point to retain the spot’s original hardware store décor (hence the name). The third and largest of the Papa Palheta joints, this one sports a 360-degree coffee bar, The Roastery and The Annex, where you can learn and sample more unusual beans.
Espressos go for $4 or have a cold brew ($7). If you’re in the mood for something stronger, give the coffee beer (from $7.50/half-pint) a shot.
Their food menu includes items such as Patrick’s Platter (pork rillettes, duck terrine and parma ham; $16) and pancakes with blueberries ($10).
