Restaurateur and nightlife veteran Michel Lu of The Prive Group has unveiled a new restaurant and bar concept with a collegiate feel. The University Club, housed within the new Shaw Foundation Alumni House (4/F 11 Kent Ridge Dr., 6779-8919) in NUS’ Kent Ridge Campus will offer casual chic dining featuring the group’s now-famous burgers, small bites and a rotating repertoire of local specials such as beef rendang and tandoori chicken.
“I have developed a reputation for taking on projects in ‘new’ or challenging locations and making them work so this was no exception,” explains Lu of the new restaurant’s off-beat locale. The University Club will be The Prive Group’s fourth dining venture after Prive in Keppel Bay, and Hacienda and Cafe Hacienda in Dempsey. The Prive Group is helmed by Michel Lu and business partner Yuan Oeij.
“All our concepts are derived from the location and we usually get inspiration from the space and the location for our concepts. In this particular case, we were invited to come in to this space and the infrastructure, location and the view just blew us away so we knew we had to do something with it. So expect to luxuriate in the intimate cosy environment that we have created as well as escape from the hustle and bustle of city life in this chilled out corner of Singapore,” he continues.
To celebrate the opening, The University Club is offering 30 percent off a la carte menu items for the month of October.
