The name might be a bit cartoony, but Bedrock Bar & Grill is dead serious about serving up some of the most authentic New York style steaks in Singapore. And the New York theme is definitely apparent in its décor—the mood lighting, brown leather and circular booths make this a cool, subterranean Manhattan place, more Sex in the City than Flintstones!
We started off with roasted marrow on toast—a simple but stunning appetizer with beef bone marrow served on warm bread. We also used our bread to dip in the delicious applewood‑smoked tomato soup with basil mascarpone. From the mains, the US tenderloin jumped up immediately from the menu and it didn’t disappoint; it was everything a steak should be—succulent, tender and flavorful. For our second main, we deviated from the meat and plumped for the Something Fancy portion of the menu, gunning swiftly for the baked whisky prawns; and boy was it a veritable highlight—with clams and chorizo accompanying the tarragon‑spiced dish.
The apple crumble—served with walnuts and vanilla ice‑cream was not really an inspired choice for dessert though; it was OK but not wow. The Banana Foster fared better—warm banana served with bourbon sauce and cocoa bits, which was something refreshingly different. Our only grouse: Service was a little slow for a place that wasn’t even half full when we were there. But the food is scrumptuous enough for us to overlook this and give it a couple more tries.
