One of them looks almost like a traditional straw picnic basket – a curvy speaker with a woven paper fibre front and a light oak handle that evokes warm summer days on the beach. The other features a dark oak wood cover and handle that reminds one of the aesthetic of winter woodlands.
This is the new portable Beosound A5 speaker by Bang & Olufsen. Designed in collaboration with Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi, the speaker combines immersive sound, meticulous craftsmanship and product longevity that the brand is known for. It is available in two colourways where each design is rooted in a Scandinavian aesthetic with a distinct design signature.
Both versions in either natural or black anthracite aluminium have a solid oak handle that allows the speaker to be carried from room to room with ease. Thanks to an IP65 water and dustproof rating, Beosound A5 can also be taken outside (although at more than 3kg, it might be a little heavy for some).
It has more than 12 hours of playtime, and even has a wireless phone charger integrated into the top panel of the speaker. And of course, It is controlled by either a sleek user-interface or directly from the Bang & Olufsen app.
The speakers are modularly designed, which means they can be easily serviced and repaired to extend its lifetime if needed. The front covers can easily be removed to fit new ones (in the pipeline are new materials and colourways to suit one’s style and identity).
As well as being a standalone speaker, Bang & Olufsen’s Mozart platform allows two Beosound A5s to connect seamlessly with each other in a stereo system or any other Mozart-enabled speaker. It can also integrate smoothly into the brand’s smart home system, creating an immersive multiroom experience at the tap of a button.
