Bar MF is back with a bang. Burger & Lobster, the famed restaurant for fresh lobsters and juicy burgers, has reopened its outdoor terrace bar at Raffles Hotel’s famous Arcade.
To celebrate the highly anticipated return, Bar MF presents a special takeover in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur’s award-winning rum bar, JungleBird, ranked no.35 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022.
From May 19 to Jun 2, JungleBird’s co-founders, Divyesh Chauhan, Joshua Ivanovic and Lolita Goh, as well as bartender Lucas Chee, will helm Bar MF. The quartet will introduce JungleBird’s exotic cocktail menu that includes, what else, rum-based concoctions.
Creative concoctions
There are 10 alcoholic signatures* and two alcohol-free tipples. We recommend Nyonya Business ($24++), made with Diplomatico Planas Rum, pineapple, cucumber, chilli cashew and rojak dressing. We were wary when we heard the words “rojak and rum” in the same sentence, but the drink was a pleasant surprise with spicy and sweet notes that did not overwhelm.
Another favourite is Just Call It Blue, Bruv ($26++), made with Rhum Clement Blanc & Diplomatico Planas Rum, Curacao, lemon, orange and pineapple. Clean and less complicated, this blue cocktail shines with bright citrus notes and a hint of tartness.
If you are more adventurous, try the Mary Poppins ($26++). Think of it as a salty version of Bloody Mary, made with Clairin Casimir rum, cucumber, tomato, chilli pepper and gochujang.
Other signature tipples include Jungle Bird ($24++), made with Diplomatico Mantuano & Reserva Exclusiva, Campari, fresh lime and pineapple; and If You Like Pina Coladas ($20++), made with Lyre’s Dark & White Cane, pineapple, lime and coconut.
The cocktail menu pairs with a delectable selection of bar bites, such as the signature Cubano, their in-house take on a classic Cuban sandwich. The Cubano gained infamy in the Latin populated areas of Florida, particularly Miami and is now a must-try on the JungleBird food menu.
JungleBird’s two-week pop-up signals the first of many collaborations at the newly revamped venue. In celebration of women power, all female guests will enjoy special one-for-one deals on selected JungleBird’s cocktails, wines and beers on May 25 and on every Thursday night thereafter as part of B&L’s Women’s Night promotion.
