It’s official – Singapore is the bar capital of Asia. Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023 was announced at a live awards ceremony in Hong Kong on Jul 18, and Singapore led with 11 bars on the list.
Jigger & Pony retained its spot at No.2 and was named The Best Bar in Singapore for the third consecutive year. It also clinched the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award.
Nutmeg & Clove made an impressive leap of 29 spots up to No.7, while Sago House came in at No.10, climbing up 21 spots from last year’s No.31. It was also recognised with the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award for its unparalleled service experience.
Three-year-old Analogue Initiative ranked No.15 and also took home the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award. The bar at Chijmes puts sustainability at the fore, right from its 3D-printed bar counter 3D to plant-based menus featuring low-impact ingredients and base spirits with reduced carbon footprints.
Another notable climber was 28 HongKong Street at No.24 which moved up 25 places from last year’s No.49. Meanwhile, Stay Gold Flamingo was Singapore’s only new entrant to the rankings at No.32. Night Hawk at Tanjong Pagar Road received the Campari One To Watch Award.
Manhattan came in at No. 21, Atlas at No.27 and Employees Only and Native re-entered the list at No.30 and No.42 respectively.
But at the top of the list is Hong Kong’s Coa. It is still The Best Bar in Asia, sponsored by Perrier, for the third year in a row, and The Best Bar in Hong Kong.
Other winners include Tokyo’s Virtù at No.20 (Disaronno Highest New Entry); Seoul’s Zest at No.5 (Nikka Highest Climber after rising 43 places up the rankings) and Bangkok’s Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar at No.22 (London Essence Best New Opening).
The Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023 ceremony was the first full-scale gathering of the bar community in Asia since 2019 and features bars from 17 cities across the region.
