Bagels are considered perfect because of their texture – crusty outside, dense and chewy inside – that distinguishes them from ordinary bread.
Here to help you get your bagel fix is Bae.Gal. There are over 30 freshly baked varieties at the newly opened Century Square store.
It’s the brainchild of Swee Heng, a homegrown bakery brand with more than 30 decades in the business. Bae.gal is the newest addition to its growing repertoire of brands and specialty concepts such as Crolo (croissants and croffles) and San.wich (affordable Japanese sandos)
Using Anchor Butter, bakers at Bae.Gal have created a collection of comforting classics and innovative creations. But it stands out from other bagel brands here because of its Asian vibe that will stir your taste buds and keep you coming back.
A Plain Bagel ($2.30) and Multigrain Bagel ($2.60) serve as versatile canvasses for six spreads (80 cents each) – cream cheese, apple, Kit Kat, Biscoff, strawberry, and blueberry – and a bunch of other fillings/toppings.
Our eyes lit up when we saw the savoury options. Cheese lovers will delight in the Garlic Cream Cheese Bagel ($3.60) with slightly sweetened cream cheese, roasted garlic, and parsley flakes, as well as Four Cheese ($3.80) with mozzarella and emmental cheese cubes.
Just as scrumptious are Mashed Potato Mentaiko ($3.60), Taiwan Yammy Chicken Floss ($3.80), Snow Crab Mentaiko ($4.20), Nonya Curry Chicken ($3.60), Spicy Korean Chicken With Egg & Kimchi Bagel ($3.20), Chicken Cutlet with Egg & Cheese ($3.20), Chicken Ham with Cheese & Egg ($3.20), and Fish Fillet with Cheese & Egg ($3.20).
Dessert dreams are made of Bae.Gal’s chilled bagels. The chunky Taro Pudding Bagel ($3.20) is reminiscent of orh nee, while Peach Cream Cheese ($3.20) and Dark Cherry Pistachio Chocolate ($3.20) are generously filled with fresh fruits and sponge cake sandwiched between layers of fluffy whipped cream.
Other dessert bagels include Cookies and Cream ($3.40), Pistachio Chocolate & Cream ($4.00), Fresh Mango ($4.20), Fresh Fruit ($4.20), Vienna Butter Sugar ($3.20), Kaya Peanut Pandan ($3.40), and sweet, salty, chewy Triple Cheese Honey Mochi ($3.80).
There are even half-sized sandwich-style portions tailored for those seeking a light meal or snack, and are perfect for eating on-the-go.
