In the midst of the holiday season, we’re still loving Christmas goodies – but there’s more out there to savour. This month, try Japanese ramen, Nanyang classics and baked treats.
Red House Seafood Nanyang
Red House Seafood has reopened at Clarke Quay with a refreshed interior. Signature dishes such as the Stewed Giant Grouper and Red House Chilli Crab by this homegrown Singapore Nanyang-style seafood restaurant are still the highlight. We highly recommend the outlet-exclusive Double-Boiled Fish Broth with Sliced and Fried Giant Grouper Fish Fillet. The exquisitely-textured milky soup base is made by painstakingly slow-cooking pork and grouper bones for eight hours.
For Chinese New Year (CNY), there are celebratory set menus for lunch and dinner. They start at $598++ and $798++ for four to six guests, and $1088++ to $1,888++ for eight to 10. New for CNY 2024 is the Alaskan King Crab served two ways (Sautéed Crab Meat in Truffle Oil and Egg White & Baked Crab Legs with Miso) from the Bountiful Treasures menu ($1,888++). If you intend on celebrating at home, the restaurant also offers two substantial and auspicious “pots” for takeaway.

Ippudo
Head to Ippudo’s 15th Singapore outlet at One Holland Village for its classic and modern Hakata ramen, and an extensive Japanese sake and craft beer selection.
Diners at the new outlet can enjoy 1-for-1 specials on its Global Signature Ramen, including Shiromaru, Akamaru, and Karaka Men (UP: $15.90++ to $25.90++). Only 888 redemptions are allowed until Dec 31, excluding public holidays and weekends, via the ShopFarEast mobile app.

Baker X: Tons Of Crumbs
From Dec 23 to Jan 5 next year, homegrown baker Gladys Koh of Tons Of Crumbs presents her delicious bakes at Baker X. Indulge in chocolate brownies ($4.50), banana crumble ($4) and lemon cake ($4).
For the festive season, try the Triple Chocolate Cookie ($4.50), Sea Salted Chocolate Reindeer Brownies ($4.50) with a lava centre, and Magical Crumbs Orbs ($4.90) containing Earl Grey cookies in transparent Christmas baubles.
