We are all familiar with afternoon tea – sweet and savoury bite-sized morsels served with, well, tea, that’s enjoyed with friends and loved ones on a lazy afternoon.
Giving this dining concept a seafood twist is Jumbo Seafood’s An Extravagant Afternoon Sea Experience at Ion Orchard. While the outlet has offered Afternoon Tea on the menu since December 2018, this new offering is made entirely of sea delicacies.
Another plus is that all items are miniaturised one-bite versions of Jumbo Seafood’s best dishes. The famous Chilli Crab? You’ll find it in the familiar sweet and tangy Chilli Crab Meat Sauce with Sliced “Mantou”.
You’ll also enjoy popular recipes such as Shelled Prawn Fried with Cereal; Scallop Wrapped in Yam Ring; Crispy Fried Baby Squid; Seafood Bacon Roll Tossed with Salad Cream; Home-made Vegetable Beancurd Braised with Fresh Mushroom, and the refreshing Dragonfruit Lobster Salad with Lumpfish Caviar.
But this is no ordinary afternoon tea; it’s an extravagant one, so there are two premium seafood treats: a whole Braised Abalone with Premium Sauce and Fragrant Rice, and a Cod Fish Steamed with Preserved Radish and Diced Chilli.
For dessert, enjoy a Chilled Lime Jelly with Mixed Fruits and the indulgent Yam Ice Cream with Roasted Pumpkin Bits.
As for tea, choose between two types of specially concocted Wellness Tea. The Wellness Eight Treasures Tea contains a special concoction of rose, chrysanthemum, dried longan, dates, wolfberries, liquorice, dang gui and sancha, while Flower Tea contains flower tisanes such as jasmine, chrysanthemum and wolfberries, which are said to boost the immune system.
The menu is priced at $49++ per person (Jumbo Rewards members) or $59++ per person (minimum two persons) for a 12-course sea experience. Available daily from 3pm to 5pm (note that due to Chinese New Year, it is available until Jan 25, and will resume again on Feb 26).
