The next chapter of Samsung’s Galaxy AI was recently unveiled, and boy, were there exciting things announced in this year’s line-up.
The electronics giant unveiled its latest Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 6 foldable smartphones with new accompanying earbuds in the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro. It also updated its roster of wearables with the premium Galaxy Watch Ultra (no prizes for guessing what inspired it), the more affordable Watch 7 and of course, the Galaxy Ring.
While it is the lattermost that’s the most radical of all – the Galaxy Ring is the first wearable smart ring from any of the major smartphone manufacturers – its availability in the Singapore market has yet to be announced.
For now, here’s the skinny – the Galaxy Ring will function like most other wearable rings, in that it’ll use on-board sensors to monitor your heart rate, energy and sleep quality. You can also use it to control your Galaxy smartphones with nifty gestures.
But back to what’s already confirmed. Both Galaxy Z phones now boast durability upgrades in their folding hinge designs and materials despite being at their lightest weights ever.
They’re also quicker on the uptake too, thanks to new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets and cooling systems (the Flip 6 finally gets a vapour chamber, while the Fold 6 gets a bigger one).
It’s not just speed for speed’s sake, as the extra horsepower goes a long way in driving the phones’ on-board artificial intelligence capabilities, especially since Samsung’s Galaxy AI already boasts more features than when it was first introduced earlier this year for the S24.
These include the new Portrait Studio and Sketch to Image features, which enable users to apply generated portrait effects to photos and turn simple drawings into AI art respectively.
You’ll also feel the power of Galaxy AI in the new Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro, as they’ll be compatible with the preexisting Interpreter function – so you can get a live translation of a lecture in a foreign language piped into your earbuds a la minute.
At the risk of sounding like a chatbot stuck in an endless loop, artificial intelligence will also feature in Samsung’s updated wearables, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, by way of AI-powered scores measuring your energy and sleep levels.
While the Galaxy Watch 7 is said to come with a host of upgrades to its sensor suites and processor, its fancy new cousin, the Watch Ultra, is the one to look out for. The new wearable boasts a titanium frame, water resistance up to 10ATM, a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and up to 100 hours of battery life to boot.
In other words – and if that wasn’t immediately obvious from its name – it’s a premium smartwatch for adventurers to rival the likes of the Apple Watch Ultra.
