Popular Choon Kee Hainanese Coffee from across the Causeway is coming to Singapore from Aug 23 to Sep 2. The 11-day pop-up will be held at Great Nanyang (111 Somerset outlet), giving fans of the cult coffee brand a chance to try some of its signature drinks and dishes without travelling all the way to Malaysia.

This will be the first time Choon Kee is coming to Singapore. The longstanding decades-old business began in 1955 from a humble roadside stall in Perak, and has built a loyal following since then.

The pop-up will serve unique beverages like the signature Barley Kopi and Teh series, and Haikou Breeze (a Himalayan Salt Sweet-inspired Yakult drink with lemon and sea salt). Enjoy them alongside Great Nanyang’s famed Traditional Kaya & Butter Toast, and other dishes on the menu.

Third-generation scion Foo Swee Yong will be flying into Singapore to personally serve the famed beverages. Customers will get to meet the man himself, and try the coffee and teas crafted from a 70-year-old recipe.

Currently, Choon Kee has a flagship outlet at Taiping, Perak, and runs frequent pop-ups at Kuala Lumpur bazaars such as Pingmin and Halo markets. They often see viral long queues, and we have a feeling the situation here will be the same so be prepared.

Choon Kee Hainanese Coffee pop-up will take place from Aug 23 to Sep 2 at Great Nanyang, 111 Somerset, 111 Somerset Rd, #01-09, Singapore 238164.
