Zi char in an all-American joint like Shake Shack? Yes please. The fast food restaurant pays tribute to Singapore’s beloved zi char dishes by collaborating with Michelin-selected hawker pioneers KEK Seafood – its first collaboration with a full-range menu offering.
Shake Shack’s menu is given a uniquely Singaporean twist, incorporating some well-known zi char flavours for a limited time only from Oct 17. Inspired by KEK Seafood’s signature Coffee Pork Ribs, the Coffee-glazed Chicken ($11.80) is a crispy chicken fried and coated in a sweet, smoky coffee glaze, then sprinkled with sesame seeds. It is stacked with slaw and coriander for a hit of freshness and sandwiched in a classic potato bun.
The White Pepper Burger ($11.80) pays tribute to KEK Seafood’s White Pepper Crab. The burger is layered with caramelised onions and thinly sliced scallions, topped with white pepper sauce. Complete the meal with White Pepper Fries ($6.80), featuring Shake Shack’s classic crinkle-cut fries with white pepper drizzle, and Coffee-glazed Chicken Bites ($9.10).
Alongside the limited-time offerings are the Buah Long Long Lemonade ($5.70), a housemade lemonade with june plum puree and sour plum, and Raspberry Bandung Shake ($9.50) which marries vanilla custard with raspberry and rosewater.
