Livestream musical performances at the first online edition of Baybeats, happening this month

Well-known for being one of the pioneering alternative music festivals in Singapore, it is now Esplanade’s Baybeats’ turn to head online for its 18.5th edition, this time, featuring intimate, stripped-down sets and a diverse range of talents.

Still hoping to run the 19th edition of the annual music festival in its usual live format in November, Baybeats Online is a three-day digital spectacle put together to keep spirits up. Happening from Aug 21-23, be treated to the authentic, local music experience you know and love, only held online instead.

Pre-festival festivities have been mapped out, from premieres shot in Esplanade’s underground spaces to live jamming studio sessions and panel discussions about the music industry, there’s everything for the alternative music junkie.

Look forward to Baybeats Unplugged for acoustic sets at unique spots on both Esplanade Offstage and the Baybeats Facebook page, as well as Chapalang Sessions for live jamming experiences to be streamed on Offstage. #BaybeatsThrowback will even allow you to reminisce about the good ol’ times thanks to the Esplanade’s archives; then head to the Observation Deck for insightful talks and forums like the Future of Music Festivals in Asia and So..how is music recorded?.

Hear from local artistes including Anette Lee as she opens the virtual festival with her latest single, “Spring Will Always Come”, an encouraging tune written about the Covid-19 pandemic. Also tune in to Bakers In Space, a band catering to those with a penchant for indie rock. Plus, up and coming star Charlie Lim is set to bring his pop sounds alongside Dreebsby’s return to Baybeats with acoustic versions of singles off his debut EP.

You’ll even have a chance to get up close and personal with the Baybeats Unplugged artistes as they get featured on In Bed with Baybeats via IG Live after their video premieres. For the full schedule of Baybeats Online, head here.

Fingers crossed that the live festival will be able to take place later this year, and that we’ll get to witness these cool bands and more in person. But if not, you would have still gotten a complete and fulfilling musical experience from the comforts of home.

Baybeats Online is happening from Aug 21-23 at Esplanade Offstage and Baybeats Facebook page. More information available here.
