For the first time in Singapore, budding artists and art lovers alike will be able to get a glimpse of Indonesian artist Vani Hidayatur Rahman’s eye-catching artworks. Titled Victory March, the acrylic painter’s solo exhibition will take place at Ode To Art, from Jun 28-Jul 11. It’ll showcase 15 new art pieces, centered around three themes—harmony, humanity and time.
View paintings of music legends such as John Lennon, Kurt Cobain and Ludwig Van Beethoven, which serve to illustrate the common theme of harmony, signifying the importance of unity through music, in a time of rampant, global social divide. Depictions of the concept of time and existentialism will also be on display, to serve as a visual representation of philosophical ideas and moments.
Other artworks include provocative ones that challenge and remind viewers of their roles as global citizens, which is to actively work together for mankind’s progression and advancement.
Both the recipient of the Best Painting accolade at the 2012 Jakarta Art Awards and a finalist at the 2008 Jakarta Art Awards, Vani has received recognition for his vivid imagery and can even be identified by it. Now, all will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the artist’s style and creative concepts right here in Singapore.
Vani Hidayatur Rahman’s Victory March is held at Ode To Art from Jun 28-Jul 11. Admission is free.
