It’ll be same same but different

Clear your August plans—annual nighttime arts escapade the Singapore Night Festival is set to return, and this time, in all its high production glory with famed Argentinean troupe Fuerza Bruta once again taking to the aerial stage.

This 12th edition of the festival happens Aug 23-31 within the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct. And if you’re old enough (like us) to have attended the 5th installment back in 2012, you’ll remember Fuerza Bruta (meaning “brute force” in Spanish) wowing audiences with their dancers suspended in the air above a translucent pool, acrobats performing gravity-defying feats, and aerialists seemingly taking flight as confetti rained down on the streets.

Well, the troupe is back this year with a brand new show and we’re expecting nothing short of amazing. The festival’s 2019 headline act will offer plenty of interaction, high energy and upbeat music in their two-part, 30 mins-long performance. Expect also giant air tunnels, laser projections and even a mass dance segment to round out the immersive theatre experience.

Not much else has been announced regarding the line-up for Singapore Night Festival 2019, but if Fuerza Bruta’s effect on audiences is any indication, we’re definitely bound for one epic week this August.

Fuerza Bruta performs three ticketed ($15) shows each evening from Aug 29-31 at the Cathay Green. Singapore Night Festival 2019 happens Aug 23-31 at various locations around the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct.
