Revel in nostalgia at A Spoonful of Sherman this Nov 20-30 as the musical revue will be performing all your favourite childhood tunes when they make their Asian premiere in Singapore.
Written by Robert J. Sherman, son of songwriting duo Sherman Brothers’ Robert B. Sherman, this stage show debuted in 2014 at the St. James Theatre in London, celebrating three generations of songwriting by the Sherman family.
Featuring Oscar-winning songs from films like Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book and even Winnie the Pooh, the musical will definitely transport you back to the good ol’ days, a time of lesser worries and more good-natured fun.
The popular “It’s A Small World (After All)” will definitely be heard, as well as the catchy “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, made famous by everyone’s favourite nanny. And judging by the musical’s title, we’ll definitely be expecting “A Spoonful of Sugar”, although we’re very much anticipating “I Wan’na Be Like You” from the iconic jungle-themed Disney movie too.
A familiar, local cast of seasoned performers (comprising Aaron Khaled, George Chan, Hossan Leong, Mina Ellen Kaye and Vanessa Kee) will be bringing us this show; so look forward to a fun, light-hearted and wholesome affair. And until November arrives, be sure to ready your vocal cords and memorise all of the Sherman Brothers’ song lyrics, as you’ll definitely want to sing along to these ever-popular hits.
A Spoonful of Sherman premieres Nov 20-30 at the SOTA Drama Theatre. Tickets and other information available here.
