Watch the National Theatre’s acclaimed play War Horse live in Singapore next April

Regardless of whether or not you’ve caught the screening of the National Theatre’s much-lauded play War Horse at the Esplanade earlier this year, trot down to the performing arts venue next April, as the Tony Award-winning show will be staged by none other than the British theatre troupe themselves.

Jointly presented by the Singapore Repertory Theatre and Esplanade, the National Theatre’s touring cast will stop by Singapore as part of their international tour from Apr 24-May 3, performing War Horse at the Esplanade Theatre for the very first time.

Based on author Michael Morpurgo’s 1982 novel of the same name, War Horse is a remarkable story of courage, loyalty and friendship. During the outbreak of the First World War, adolescent English boy Albert loses his beloved horse Joey, who is sold to the army. Caught between enemy fire, Joey serves on both sides on the war before ending up alone in no man’s land. Meanwhile, Albert, who can’t seem to forget his pet, decides to embark on a dangerous mission to bring his friend home.

Featuring life-sized horse props by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, the show will bring these horses to life through the epic storytelling which takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon in the UK, to the trenches of World War One in France.

War Horse will be staged at the Esplanade Theatre from Apr 24-May 3 2020. Tickets and more information available here.
