Acclaimed Broadway play The Sound Inside is set to premiere in Singapore

Update: Due to popular demand, The Sound Inside has been extended to Apr 16. The date in this article has been changed accordingly.

Perhaps best known for staging popular and acclaimed musicals such as Sweeney Todd and Urinetown, the Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) is pulling out all the stops for its 2021 season with the announcement of its latest production.

‘Cause come Mar 10, SRT will be presenting The Sound Inside, thanks to an arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. Hailed as a stunning and riveting production that quickly rose to prominence when it made its Broadway debut, the Adam Rapp play is set to thrill local audiences when it makes its premiere in Singapore at the KC Arts Centre.

Chronicling an unlikely friendship, The Sound Inside follows Ivy League college professor Bella Bird as she allies herself with a brilliant yet enigmatic student when faced with a challenge she cannot tackle alone. Intimate, moving and deeply personal, the play ultimately discusses human connections by posing the question: what can one person do for another?

Directed by local theatre veteran Cherilyn Woo, The Sound Inside stars local actress Serene Chen and actor Krish Natarajan. But whether you fancy yourself a budding thespian or regular arts patron, this gripping drama is not to be missed.
