Art exhibition Art Trek returns to Singapore for its 12th year running, bringing with it a series of visual, literary and performing arts by Filipino artists. Since its inception in 2007, Art Trek has showcased the masterpieces of more than 200 Filipino artists in Singapore, and this year, the works of 24 esteemed artists will be on display at nine selected galleries here.
Expect a series of immersive and compelling installations that includes sculptures, paintings, basketry and woodworks, while sculptors and even a toy artist will highlight the diversity and eclectic styles of contemporary Filipino artists. The opening salvo this year will be the joint exhibition of Abigail Dionisio and Joel Welbart Bartolome held at One East Asia Gallery, entitled Travel Light that will run from Sep 25–Oct 14, while the last of the exhibits will take place at Taksu Gallery, which will feature artist Lindslee in a poignant work of our modern times titled Physically Present Mentally Absent held from Oct 3-28. Be sure to also check out Bootleg Toy Supervillain at Kult Gallery that showcases the controversial works of The Sucklord.
If you fancy yourself a cultural enthusiast, be sure to check out Art Trek and gain insight into the world of Filipino art.
Admission is free at all participating galleries. More information here.
