Just like that, Wild Rice theatre company’s 2021 season is coming to a close. But before that actually happens, the local troupe will be putting on one final play, and this time, it’s a spectacular musical number about a beloved Japanese folktale.
Simply look forward to catching Momotaro and the Magnificent Peach from Nov 25 onwards, a fun-loving production that draws inspiration from anime, J-pop and all things Japanese.
As for the story, check out a tale about a boy named Momotaro who lives on an island called Peach Paradise. One day, it is discovered that a poisonous wave of pollution has engulfed Momotaro’s home and threatens the lives of everyone he loves.
Determined to save the day, Momotaro enlists the help of three animal companions and begins the adventure of a lifetime.
Directed by Glen Goei, Momotaro and the Magnificent Peach is the inspiring story of one boy who changes the world by standing up for what he believes in.
It is also a heartfelt celebration of family, friendship and community, not to mention a timely reminder that we need to play our parts in caring for our planet.
