From prawn noodles to fish head bee hoon, there are now more places to enjoy a value-for-money gourmet experience. Michelin Guide has awarded a total of 79 venues with a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Singapore 2023.
There are 19 new establishments, including two restaurants and 17 hawker centre stalls.
In total, this year’s Bib Gourmand locations comprise 21 restaurants, 53 hawker centre stalls, and 5 street food establishments. The Bib Gourmand category was created in 1997 to recognise wallet-friendly establishments.
Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the Michelin Guide, notes the diverse variety of casual eats that define Singapore’s street food and local hawker food scene.
“The inspection team has discovered a great number of hawker stalls with flavorsome dishes from different ethnic groups, each with their own secret recipes. Beyond taste, these gems are also an inheritance of culture, which serves as a strong positioning of Singapore’s cuisine to both locals and tourists,” she says.
Among the 17 hawker centre stalls newly awarded a Bib Gourmand are Adam Rd Noo Cheng Big Prawn Noodle, Bahrakath Mutton Soup, Selamat Datang Warong Pak Sapari, and No.18 Zion Road Fried Kway Teow.
The two restaurants are Kok Sen, which has been serving local tze char classics for over 50 years, and The Coconut Club with its nasi lemak set as the bestseller.
