Singapore prides itself on being ethnically and culturally diverse. Food-wise, we are a literal melting pot with some of the most exciting culinary experiences in the world.

So when Seafood Paradise, a homegrown restaurant under Paradise Group, announced its collaboration with Ms. Maria & Mr. Singh (Singapore), we were intrigued.

Seafood Paradise is recognised for its Singapore-style seafood and local cuisine, while Ms. Maria & Mr. Singh is the casual offshoot restaurant by renowned chef Gaggan Anand, known for its exciting fusion of Indian-Mexican flavours.

The result? A one-of-a-kind seafood menu with Singaporean, Mexican and Indian flavours. It is officially available to the public from Nov 1, 2023 at Seafood Paradise outlets in Singapore for a limited time only.

A harmonious contradiction
Start with Fresh Jumbo Canadian Oysters topped with Salsa Taquera, Pickled Shallots and Tobiko ($12.90++ each, minimum order of two pieces). The sweetness and briny flavour of the oyster is intensified with the fresh and moderately spicy tang of the topping.

Grilled Squid

The Salsa Taquera is also served with Grilled Squid ($28.90++). The smokiness of the squid and the refreshing tartness of the salsa work surprisingly well together.

Baked Jade Perch with Tamale Masala Sauce wrapped in Banana Leaf ($68.90++) is an explosion of flavours. Baking it in the oven with the banana leaf wrap not only retains the juiciness of the fish, but also lends it an earthy char.

Gaggan’s Crab Curry with Seafood Paradise Creamy Butter Mud Crab topped with Coconut Crumbs

But the highlight is Gaggan’s Crab Curry with Seafood Paradise Creamy Butter Mud Crab topped with Coconut Crumbs ($128.00++). Succulent crabs are doused in Seafood Paradise’s famous fragrant creamy butter sauce, which is given a more exotic spin with Gaggan’s crab curry. The fusion makes the sauce a little sweeter and richer, but we guarantee you’ll be reaching out for more. It’s best eaten with plain rice or fried mantous.

Similar flavours can be found in Stir-fried Live Tiger Prawn with Gaggan’s Crab Curry Base ($29.90++). Tiger prawns are infused with the aromatic herbs and spices from the curry, before being stir-fried for wok hei goodness.

Seafood Paradise Mee Goreng with Ms. Maria & Mr. Singh’s Masala

The Seafood Paradise Mee Goreng with Ms. Maria & Mr. Singh’s Masala ($25.90++) offers an innovative twist on the traditional Chinese fried noodles dish. Luckily, the masala spices do not overwhelm although the overall dish is too wet for my liking.

In all, it’s a menu worth trying, filled with imaginative dishes that are sure to spice up the local dining scene.

These dishes will be available for a limited time only from Nov 1 to Dec 17, 2023, at Seafood Paradise outlets at VivoCity and Clarke Quay. From Nov 1 to 5, Citi, Maybank Debit or Credit Cardmembers and PGR members can enjoy the dishes at 30 percent off.
