It’s that time of the year again for all durian lovers. Goodwood Park Hotel’s famed Durian Fiesta is back from Mar 2 to Jul 21 with more indulgent pastries that spotlight the revered king of fruits.
This year’s repertoire of durian creations have been expertly crafted by the hotel’s pastry chefs featuring quality D24, Black Thorn and Mao Shan Wang varieties.
Here are some new and notable creations we can’t wait to try.
D24 Durianyaki (from $12++ for three pieces; dine-in only): A playful take on the popular Japanese street food. Resembling takoyaki balls, the whimsical confection incorporates swirls of rich D24 mousse within homemade bite-sized profiteroles. It is garnished with coconut cream, green tea sponge crumble, toasted coconut flakes and a drizzle of gula melaka sauce.
D24 Cheesecake ($68): Like a Basque burnt cheesecake, but with rich durian cream cheese filling. It is enhanced with two layers of durian mousse, and embellished with meringue, buttery crumble and white chocolate.
Duo of D24 Mango Coconut Gateau and Chocolate Husk ($32): This adorable pair features a combination of D24 durian mousse and coconut sponge enrobed in silky coconut mousse at its core. One has a milk chocolate husk while the other is a mango coconut gateau coated with coconut flakes on top of a coconut biscuit.
D24 Dark Chocolate Cremeux ($20 each): You can’t go wrong with chocolate and durian. Find a creamy ring of dark chocolate cremeux piping atop a moist chocolate sponge, complemented by durian mousse, dark chocolate pearls, and a crunchy hazelnut croustillant base.
D24 Granny Smith Mousse Cake ($20 per slice): Not impressed by the durian-chocolate combo? How about durian and Granny Smith apples? This cake is a medley of caramelised apples, durian mousse and apple jelly sandwiched between apple mousse and almond sponge encased within an apple glaze.
D24 Gula Melaka Kueh Dadar ($22 for two pieces): A twist on the traditional Kueh Dadar, the version boasts a pillowy-soft gula melaka crepe filled with durian paste and a layer of freshly grated coconut.
Then there are the crowd-favourites – Mao Shan Wang Power Puff and Mao Shan Wang Mousse Cake. These are back again by popular demand and will only be available for a limited period from May 1. Other returning signatures include D24 Mousse Cake, Black Thorn Mousse Cake, D24 Puff, D24 Crepe and D24 Ice Cream.
